Just a reminder to my Year 8 students – you’re going to present to the class a prepared conversation about food and drink. This is about speaking, not reading from a script! You need to practise with your partner to try and make your conversation sound “natural”. You will be allowed a Post-it with some key words on to prompt you as you do this. I’ve added a link to the level criteria to remind you what you’re aiming for. Have a look at let me know if there’s anything that you’re not sure about.

You’re going to have a mini assessment – just reading and listening – on the work we’ve done so far in Module 4.
You should revise:
We’ve started to use the Hello Mylo site in Key Stage 3. Why not do some of the basic skills tasks or some of the challenges at home. Just go to www.hellomylo.com and log in. If you don’t already have access you should register as a learner. You will have to put in a personal email address to do this, as you will be sent a message to verify your registration. You will only receive one email from the site, unless you have ticked the “email update” box. Ask your parents if you’re not sure about this.
Year 8 have been asked to work through the challenge “The greatest chef in all of Montreal” which links nicely with the new module “Manger et Boire”.
As part of your Module 2 assessment you will have the chance to answer some questions in French. You should try to prepare answers, thinking about how the words sound and how clear you voice is. You shouldn’t be nervous as you have answered lots of questions like this in class over the last few weeks.
The questions will be about yourself, your family and pets – all of the things you have been studying this term.

After talking to my Y8 pupils about the importance of learning verb endings and the irregular verbs, I started to look around for websites that might help you to help you understand a little bit more , or even to get more out of French.
There are thousands of websites, blogs from French teachers and schools, pay sites from companies and individuals, sponsored free sites, sites put up by education authorities, … the list goes on.
I’ve tried to select a few that you may find helpful. Have a look at them and let me know what you think. Maybe you can suggest some others?

We can talk about things we’re going to do soon by using the present tense of “aller” + infinitive.
Je vais porter un pull -I’m going to wear a jumper
Elle va regarder un film – She’s going to watch a film
aller – to go
je vais – I go / am going
tu vas – you go / are going
il / elle / on va – he / she goes / is going, “we” go / are going
nous allons – we go / are going
vous allez – you go / are going
ils / elles vont – they go / are going
For the “parler” part of your assessment you should prepare answers to these questions.
Remember that you won’t be asked all of the questions, but you should be ready for them all. If you have revised the module well, then none of this should be too much of a problem !
